ICF Ethics

The International Coach Federation has taken the lead in developing a definition and philosophy of coaching, as well as in establishing ethical standards among its members.  Through its own Code of Ethics, Ethical Conduct Review Process, and Independent Review Board (IRB), ICF sets professional coaching standards while also giving consumers a venue to file ethics complaints about ICF Members or ICF Credentialed coaches.

Pledge of Ethics

As professional coaches, we acknowledge and agree to honor our ethical obligations to our coaching clients and colleagues and to the public at large.  We pledge to comply with the International Coach Federation (ICF), Standards of Ethical Conduct, to treat people with dignity as independent and equal human beings, and to model these standards with those whom we coach.  If we breach this Pledge of Ethics or any ICF Standards of Ethical Conduct, we agree that the ICF in it’s sole discretion may hold us accountable.  We agree that our accountability to the ICF of any breach may include loss of our ICF membership or our ICF credentialing.
