President's Report

President’s Letter FEBRUARY 2018

Pam Brown

Hello!

It was good to see so many of you at the (rescheduled) luncheon on Friday! The board retreat that followed was energizing and informative and I look forward to sharing details in the March newsletter.

Last month’s wintery weather tested our chapter’s flexibility. I have heartfelt thanks for those who were involved with rescheduling the January meeting. Pat White, who planned the luncheon program as 2017 Program Committee chair, worked with C3 and secured the alternative meeting date. Program speaker Terry Humphrey was willing to reschedule. Immediate Past President Terry Warren was on hand to provide guidance. Once we made the decision, Celeste Shephard quickly issued a communication to the chapter and Dayle Savage emailed each registrant. Moving the chapter meeting date also meant moving the board retreat. Retreat facilitator Karen Nash was able to reschedule as were most of the 2017 and 2018 board members. And finally, I am grateful to the many chapter members who emailed me to express their appreciation that we rescheduled. While we didn’t receive a foot of snow, many businesses and universities closed as did local school districts; I believe we made the right call.

And now I have a question for your consideration. Who do you know who would benefit from learning about ICF Tennessee? I hope you will encourage him or her to visit the March chapter meeting and/or the workshop that follows.

In closing, I invite you to consider one thing you can do for yourself TODAY that will help you recharge and renew. Thank you for the honor of serving as your 2018 chapter president, and as always, I can be reached at pambrownlifecoach@gmail.com.

We hope you enjoyed our January mixer. If you were unable to attend, we missed you. However, we have another great event planned for February, that will focus on crafting a network strategy and putting it into action.

Come hear Jeanne Griffin, Director of Business Development, TeamHealth, who will help you tap into the resources you need to succeed.

During this presentation, you will:

  • Learn how to develop a personalized networking strategy that works for you.

  • See how to measure your networking success.

  • Participate in a hands-on opportunity that puts your networking skills to the test.

Jeanne is a recognized business networking professional and coach who develops training, authors articles, and presents talks about business networking.

She says,

“It is incredibly rewarding to watch a start-up business entrepreneur experience explosive growth through his or her network. Each member of the network delivers feet on the street that promote the entrepreneur’s business, and the entrepreneur does the same for his or her network members’ businesses.”

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Jeanne GriffinJeanne Griffin, Director of Business Development at TeamHealth, is a recognized business networking professional who develops training, authors’ articles and presents talks about business networking. As a networking consultant and coach, Jeanne has organized and facilitated numerous networking events. She emphasizes that as her clients are building their networks, it is essential to be “others-focused” if they want to reap the rich rewards of relationship networking.

Her clients who apply the “give to others” principle see results and build networks that work. Says Jeanne, "I especially remember one individual who was extremely timid when I first met her, and she was obviously nervous in group settings. After actively building a strong network, she blossomed professionally. Her network contacts helped her stretch and grow from someone who would never speak in front of a group to boldly taking the microphone and speaking enthusiastically in front of an audience of any size.”
