President's Report

President’s Letter JULY 2018

This month’s membership meeting promises to be full of activity!

  • I’m looking forward to Barbara Braham’s presentation on Coaching Through a Developmental Lens. It’s going to be interesting to have a speaker present via virtual technology as some of us gather at C3 and others attend the meeting remotely. I like the way ICFTN tests new ways of doing things!

  • We’re going to have a New Member Orientation immediately prior to the meeting. Read more about NMO elsewhere in this newsletter.

  • Our chapter cannot function without strong leadership. During July’s luncheon, you’ll also have an opportunity to learn more about how you can contribute to ICFTN’s mission of supporting the professional development of our member community, to educate the public about the coaching profession and to uphold the ethics of the International Coach Federation. Do you have marketing or social media experience?  Interested in giving people an experience of coaching during next year’s International Coaching Week? Have some ideas for innovative programming for our coaches? Members of the 2018 board will be seated throughout the meeting space. Have lunch with one of them who will share our chapter’s activities and ways to plug in for one of these areas:  membership, programs, outreach, marketing, or Coaching Week.

A word about scams: a few weeks ago, many in our membership were contacted by “Tony” who wanted to know if we accept credit cards. He sent me a text. My gut told me it was a scam and I ignored the message. Soon I learned that Tony contacted others by text or email. As a member benefit, your contact information is listed on the ICFTN website to help potential clients find you. With that comes the risk that people with ill intentions can also find you. As members of an important helping profession, we are a trusting group of people, and that’s a good thing. If someone reaches out to you and the very first question concerns method of payment and/or paying in advance for a block of sessions, there’s a high probability that this is a scam. I invite you to be vigilant.

Thank you for the honor of serving as your chapter president.
