A Message from the President

may 2020

Fellow Coaches,

How are you? I’ve been struck over the last month by the fact that we are ALL living through the same event. Everywhere. Shared event, various impacts. Our circumstances vary, as do our opinions about how we should be responding individually and collectively.....

Membership Moment

Since awarding the first-ever ICF Credentials in 1998, ICF has been committed to acknowledging the professional achievements of coach practitioners and to supporting their success by offering globally recognized, validated credentials. ICF is offering you a new, easier-than-ever way to verify that you meet the global Gold Standard as an ICF credentialed coach. We are pleased to provide this new service through our official digital credential provider, Credly’s Acclaim platform.

A digital badge offers you a simple, yet effective, way to distinguish yourself not only as a professional coach, but as an ICF Coach! Using your digital badge allows you to show your clients, employers, colleagues and friends:

  • Your credential award date and date of expiration

  • The competencies you demonstrated to earn your ICF Credential

  • Each required step to earn your ICF Credential

  •  The work you do to maintain your Credential and stay fit for purpose as an ICF Credentialed coach

Watch your email for more information about how to receive and use your badge on your website, in your email, and on social media.

New legislative committee

Last month our chapter entered into a contract with a local lobbying firm to help us recognize proposed legislation affecting our profession. Member Leigh Ann Roberts has been instrumental in helping us form this relationship and has also helped gather chapter members who are interested in contributing to the chapter relative to this topic.

I’m pleased to announce that Brenda Baird has agreed to chair the legislative committee and its efforts. The committee has been meeting and determining next steps, how they’ll work together, etc.

They will be responsible for:

  • interfacing with Schmidt Government Services

  • reviewing potential legislation that organization thinks might be of interest to us

  • working with Schmidt to develop a prepared response we will have at the ready should some activity merit a response

  • building relationships with other organizations that might seek to support legislation concerning our profession

  • educating our membership about what individual coaches can and should be doing to prevent unwanted legislation

Brenda has a background in learning and development and has coached in her own business since 2015.  She is a global member and holds a PCC credential.  Brenda lives in Monterey, Tennessee.
