A Message from the Marketing and Communications Committee

Happy August ICF TN members,

This month’s quote comes from John Whitmore, “Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is more often helping them to learn rather than teaching them.” As coaches, we help our clients deep dig into their potential, strip away their limiting beliefs and achieve their potential, their dreams, and their purpose.

As you read the newsletter this month and future months, I hope you see the parallel to what ICF TN offers to each of you, our members. Our Chapter strives to be the resource where you can learn. We are the community where you can network. We are the home where you are an invaluable member. Together as a chapter, we learn from each other, we are resources for growth, and we are a community of collaboration.

This is a great time to be an ICF TN member. At our recent board retreat, our focus was solidly targeted on how to become an interactive resource. From planning in person conferences and local get-togethers to a change in the way we deliver the newsletter, our primary purpose is to provide you, our family, with a safe place to connect, grow and explore.

In the coming year, we are planning a new launch of our website. The new site will be focused on easier access to resources as well as a simpler way to connect with your fellow coaches in our directory. The website will be a spotlight that all of Tennessee has to offer, as our cadre of coaching talent in this state is truly impressive.

In 2021, ICF TN was one of only 11 chapters worldwide and 2 chapters in the US, to be recognized for its contribution in the advancement, support and governance of the coaching profession. As such, we strive to continue to lead in advancement and advocacy, as well as a champion for DEIB culture and practice.

Our 156 members all have something to teach and something to learn from our counterparts. Imagine a chapter that has learning opportunities weekly spotlighted by you, for your fellow members. Imagine a chapter that has an outlet for coaches to ask a specific question and a quorum of coaches could be the support for answering that question.

Finding new ways to spotlight each of you is our purpose and mission. As a representative of the Marketing and Communications team, I would ask each of you to reach out to me with ideas to make this purpose a reality:

  • Where can we go deeper in teaching and development?

  • What would create a more meaningful value in your ICF TN membership?

  • Who do you know that should be part of this family?

  • What else do you need as a coach from ICF TN to continue to learn?

Finally, if you would like to be part of the future vision and initiatives for the Chapter, we are always looking for volunteers to participate in committees and focus groups. As Board Director of the Marketing and Communications committee we continue to be looking for creative, interactive leaders to spotlight all our chapter has to offer.

Your contribution could be a learning opportunity for another chapter member. Together as a community of learners,  ICF TN can truly unlock our full potential!
