Book Feature: Unburned: A Slightly Messy, Mostly Honest Guide to Life After Burnout

Sarah Oelschig
Filled with relatable stories, evidence-based insights, and practical tools for everyday resilience, Unburned is for anyone navigating chronic stress, work fatigue, compassion fatigue, emotional exhaustion, overwhelm, or the long tail of burnout. With a rare blend of compassion, clarity, and science, coach and HR leader Sarah Oelschig helps you sift through the emotional wreckage, reclaim your voice, and rebuild a life that actually feels good to live. If you’ve ever whispered, “I hate this place,” this book will remind you: burnout may shut one door, but it can open a much better one.
Sarah Oelschig is a writer, coach, and HR leader passionate about helping people redefine what thriving means at work and in life. CREDENTIALING
Updates to the ICF Credentialing Process
By: ICFTN Director of Credentialing, Renee Fluty, MBA, PCC
The coaching world has been seeing a lot of press recently about impending changes in the ICF credentialing process. The most pressing questions are “What will these changes mean for me?” and “When will I be impacted?” I have been fielding questions from those contemplating credentialing, those entering the process, those already in the pipeline, those nearing the end of the pipeline, and those who are part of the credentialing process. The reality is that all of us will be impacted. Read more>>

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
In the latest episode of the Coaching Community Podcast, host Hannah Finrow sits down with Matt Kodsi, ICF Tennessee's Director of Membership, to talk about his path into coaching, the power of presence, and his growing series of story-driven books for coaches and leaders.
Matt shares how a career in clinical medicine and healthcare leadership — paired with an early love of theater — eventually led him to coaching, and how burnout was the catalyst that brought him to coaching. From there, he describes a fundamental shift in how he shows up for clients, colleagues, and family: the realization that you can only take a client as far as you've taken yourself.
The conversation also covers Matt's books, short parable-style stories exploring presence and the narratives we tell ourselves, along with his encouragement for coaches who've been sitting on a book idea but haven't taken the leap. Matt and Hannah also reflect on what makes the ICF Tennessee community distinct, and share their perspective on AI's role in coaching — as a supplement, never a replacement, for genuine human connection.

PRO-BONO COACHING
SERVE AS A VOLUNTEER COACH AND SERVE THOSE WHO SERVED US
The transition from a military career to the private sector is a major shift for most military veterans. It can be especially challenging for those who served in the US Special Operations Forces. The Honor Foundation supports that transition. ICFTN is partnering with the Honor Program to provide pro-bono coaching for those in the upcoming cohort of The Honor Foundation. I hope you will join me in volunteering to serve as a coach. The next cohort starts in August, and they are currently accepting applications for coaches through July 27, 2026.
If you are interested in serving as a coach, you can schedule time with Shane Minnick here.
Coach orientation is via Zoom on August 18, 2026. Click on the Training and Networking button to learn more!
Offerings by our members and associates can be found on the Training and Networking page (under the Resources tab on the website). You can find opportunities for continuing education here.
