Spotlight: Anna Walker

1 - Where are you from, and how did you choose to live in Middle Tennessee?
I am a Nashville native.
2 - What is your professional background, and why did you become a coach?
I have a B.A. from Spelman College in Economics and an MBA from University of Phoenix at Costa Mesa, CA, and an ACC. I was an international underwriter for an insurance company for many years. I decided that it wasn’t my passion. I always had a desire to teach and guide people towards becoming their best selves, inside and outside. The dream of image consulting came to life, and The Total You was birthed in 1997. I did image management for organizations and corporations, wardrobing and personal styling for career women in transition, vocal artists, and television personalities. Over time, I honed on my desire to do more of the inner work and explored coaching. That’s was 2017.
3 - How did you choose your specialty area?
In doing more exploration of the inner work for myself, I discovered the notion of liminal space. That’s exactly what my clients were experiencing-periods of uncertainty, in between stages of life, and in need of a guide to walk along side them. I also wanted to add more credibility to my work. I received a liminal space certification in 2021.
4 -What are the greatest challenges and greatest rewards of your career?
My greatest challenges are finding balance and creating boundaries. My greatest rewards are when clients learn something genuinely new and transformative about themselves that offers depth, direction and purpose. I get to create a teachable space for them to emerge with more wisdom and clarity.
5- What is something that most ICFTN members would be surprised to learn about you?
I have traveled to four continents and been to five of the top museums in the world.
6- How do you enjoy spending your free time?
I love making candles, painting, doing volunteer work, spending time with friends and family, and encouraging others, and traveling.
