What is the name of your company?

Flatirons Professional Coaching, LLC

What type of coaching do you do?

My niche is healthcare leadership. I provide executive and team coaching and design and develop leadership development programs. I have also been an integral part of helping hospitals to raise their employee engagement scores (I am experienced with Press Ganey’s approach).

What made you decide to be a coach?

After many years in Human Resources Leadership in large healthcare systems in Texas and in Colorado, I decided to transition out of healthcare HR leadership and establish my own coaching practice. I did so with the intention of going back to healthcare and coaching their leaders - especially nursing leadership. My experience of leading the recruitment function in large healthcare systems gave me insight into the characteristics of effective leadership and ineffective leadership. Particularly when it came to recruitment and retention. I knew that I could be of greater service to these key leaders as a coach than in my HR role. What I didn’t expect is that coaching these leaders has been the most fulfilling work of my professional life.

Is there anything you would like us to know about you?

I have pivoted my coaching to emphasize systemic team coaching. In these days of escalating complexity in all aspects of work, I perceive that coaching teams is the most leveraged form of coaching today. Individual coaching still has its place; team coaching expands not only the leader’s capacity but the team’s as well. This exponential “lift” of the leader and team can positively impact an organization’s effectiveness and build upon individual leadership development.
