Spotlight: Nicole Provonchee

1 - What is your professional background, and why did you become a coach?
For twenty years, I built a successful career in marketing, communications, and strategy, working for a number of companies and agencies in Memphis and Nashville. About ten years ago, I was lucky enough to experience working with a very talented executive coach, and the experience opened my eyes to the power of the profession. I began my training as a coach in 2014 and became a certified executive coach in 2016. I launched my company, Bright Blue Consulting in 2017.
2 - How did you choose your specialty area?
I have always been passionate about supporting and advancing the rights of women. While there have been significant advances to support women in the workplace, there remain many unique challenges that women continue to face. My goal is to help women become even more successful by artfully and skillfully navigating the unique barriers and opportunities before them.
3 - What are the greatest challenges and greatest rewards of your career?
My daily work is a gift. Coaching has enabled me to walk alongside my clients as they navigate exciting (and maybe terrifying) new opportunities and seemingly insurmountable challenges – and everything that lies in the messy in-between. As for my greatest challenge – it is one that I continue to lean into and learn: how to maintain an integration and balance in all the domains of my life – mother, spouse, business owner, learner, peer, coach, daughter, and friend.
4 - What is something that most ICFTN members would be surprised to learn about you?
I am a total science fiction nerd. When I was little, my father used to take me to the “dollar movie theater” near our home on the weekends. I saw Star Wars over 25 times!
5 - What is your favorite quote?
"Women belong in all places where decisions are being made... It shouldn't be that women are the exception." - Ruth Bader Ginsburg
